Our Staff

Donna Dimeglio; Director of Operations / Services Consultant

Donna has worked as a zookeeper at the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary since 2001. She is trained in veterinary technology and spent several years working in an emergency animal clinic and has experience working as a wildlife rehabilitator. She became fascinated by parrots when she became the "chosen one" of Bill the green-wing macaw. Bill, a gentle giant, was getting the love and attention of Jennifer when Donna walked by, all focus immediately moved to Donna. Jennifer became invisible, with eyes pinned and face red, Bill leaned far away from Jennifer and stared loving through the window at Donna. Love happens. This connection and several others that followed (birds seem naturally attracted to her) led Donna to a local parrot rescue where she taught parrot education and training seminars, served as the Adoption Coordinator, and provided foster care and behavior modification training to incoming parrots. While finishing her degree in Veterinary Technology Donna is also pursuing her Bachelors degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Biology at Sacramento State University. Donna shares her life with a well rounded collection of critters including cockatoos, a wolf-hybrid, dogs, and cats.
